You see the offers come in the mail every month or so, saying how you have been pre-approved for a credit card, with low or no introductory rates and other perks. Most suggest you act now, before the offer expires. Before you apply for that credit card, it is suggested that you look at all the options, and shop around for the best deals.

Before you apply for a credit card, it is wise to compare all the terms and conditions on all the different cards you are thinking about getting, as these options will affect your overall cost. Credit cards are a form of borrowing that often involves changes. The introductory rate maybe low when you first get the card, but what about 6 months from now, will it be the same or go higher? This is why it is always wise to shop around for the best deals possible before you settle on the first offer that comes into your mail box.

Some credit card plans allow the credit card company to change your APR when interest rates or other economic indicators, called indexes, change. Because the rate change is linked to the index's performance, these plans are called "variable rate" programs. Rate changes raise or lower the finance charge on your account. If you're considering a variable rate card, the issuer must also provide various information that discloses to you: that the rate may change and how the rate is determined, which index is used and what additional amount the a margin is added to determine your new interest rate.

As the old saying goes, if an offer seems too good to be true, then odds are it isn't true. Always do as much research on the credit card that you are thinking about getting, and make sure that there isn't a better deal around. There are many credit card companies out there, all offering different options. Make sure you do your research and shop around before you settle on a credit card.
